昆明冶金高等?？茖W(xué)校是教育部批準(zhǔn)的全日制公辦普通高等專科學(xué)校，是教育部確定的首批全國高職高專院校人才培養(yǎng)工作水平評估8所優(yōu)秀院校之一,是教育部確，并得到教育部和云南省重點(diǎn)支持的國家重點(diǎn)建設(shè)示范高職院校。學(xué)校始建于1952年，辦學(xué)50多年已為云南省乃至全國培養(yǎng)畢業(yè)生5萬余人。
學(xué)校位于四季如春的昆明市區(qū)，校園環(huán)境優(yōu)美，綠樹成蔭，校園文化濃厚，是“昆明市文明單位”。學(xué)校占地面積317，755.14m2，不含土地凈資產(chǎn)達(dá)到1.5億，學(xué)?，F(xiàn)設(shè)校本部、西校區(qū)、北校區(qū)三個(gè)校區(qū)，在校學(xué)生近萬人，其中全日制在校生8000多人。畢業(yè)生就業(yè)率在連續(xù)兩年達(dá)到89.4%和90.6%的基礎(chǔ)上，2004年達(dá)到92.03%，再度被評為“2004年度云南省大中專畢業(yè)生就業(yè)先進(jìn)單位”。
學(xué)校教學(xué)設(shè)備先進(jìn)，師資隊(duì)伍朝氣蓬勃，是一所以工為主，工、管、文、商、藝并舉，多學(xué)科、高等專科學(xué)?！，F(xiàn)設(shè)15個(gè)教學(xué)部門，56個(gè)高職專業(yè)，其中國家級精品專業(yè)1個(gè)、國家教學(xué)改革試點(diǎn)專業(yè)3個(gè)?，F(xiàn)有專任教師568人，其中有教授7人，副教授等高級職稱220多人，“雙師型”教師205人。
近五年來，學(xué)校共承擔(dān)國家級課題、省部級課題等各級科研立項(xiàng)課題共257項(xiàng)，編寫出版各種教材和專著近170余種。與院校、企業(yè)等單位合作建立了250多個(gè)實(shí)驗(yàn)、實(shí)習(xí)、實(shí)訓(xùn)場所。建立了由90多間教室聯(lián)網(wǎng)、“四位一體”的多媒體電視教學(xué)輔助系統(tǒng)，建成了云南省一流的“電子電氣實(shí)訓(xùn)中心”、“現(xiàn)代測繪實(shí)訓(xùn)中心”和“環(huán)境工程實(shí)訓(xùn)中心”，其中通風(fēng)實(shí)驗(yàn)室是國家高校先進(jìn)實(shí)驗(yàn)室，“現(xiàn)代測繪實(shí)訓(xùn)中心”被命名為“ 云南省示范性實(shí)驗(yàn)室”。學(xué)校同時(shí)還建有云南省一流的校園網(wǎng)和一流的數(shù)字圖書館，圖書館藏書70余萬冊，其中21萬多冊電子圖書可在網(wǎng)上閱讀或下載。
經(jīng)云南省勞動(dòng)與社會(huì)保障廳批準(zhǔn)，成立了第155國家職業(yè)技能鑒定所，可對84個(gè)工種，457個(gè)職業(yè)崗位進(jìn)行中、高級技能鑒定。2004年，學(xué)校被云南省勞動(dòng)和社會(huì)保障廳確定為“云南省高技能人才培養(yǎng)基地”，之后，學(xué)校又被中華人民共和國勞動(dòng)和社會(huì)保障部通確定為首批推進(jìn)實(shí)施職業(yè)資格證書制度國家級百所試點(diǎn)職業(yè)院校之一。

A Brief Introduction to Kunming Metallurgy College
Kunming Metallurgy College is a public general, full-time vocational college of higher education approved by the State Ministry of Education. It is one of the eight excellent vocational colleges approved by the State Ministry of Education in the level of evaluation of training talented persons all over our country. It has been listed and supported as a national exemplary construction unit of higher vocational colleges by the State Ministry of Education and the Government of Yunnan Province in the state key constructions. The college was first founded in 1952. During the 50 years since its establishment, the college has trained more than 50,000 qualified graduates for Yunnan Province and all over the country.
Kunming Metallurgy College is located in Kunming, otherwise known as “ Spring City ”. It is one of the “Civilized Units of Kunming City”, where the environment is beautiful, with much greenery and a thriving campus culture. The college currently occupies an area of 317,755.14 square meters, with total fixed assets of RMB150, 000,000, not including the land. The campus of the college is composed of three parts: the main part, the western part and the northern part. Now, there are almost 10,000 undergraduates studying in the college, and more than 8,000 are full-time undergraduates. Because of the employment rate of our graduates has reached 89% and 90% in two successive years and exceeded 92.03% in 2004, the college was once again honoured as “ the excellent graduates employment unit of all universities, colleges and technical secondary schools in Yunnan Province ” in 2004.
Now, the college has developed into a multi-subject and comprehensive higher vocational college, with advanced teaching equipment and a teaching staff full of youthful spirit. Science is its main discipline followed by liberal arts, management, business and arts. There are 15 teaching departments and 49 higher vocational majors. Among them includes one of the superior quality majors of the country and three majors for the teaching reform of the state trial. Up to now there are 568 full-time teachers, among which there are 7 professors and over 220 associate professors and high-level professional titles, also there are 205 “two-skilled teachers” who are not only good at teaching theory but also performing practice in their own academic field.
Over the past five years, the college has conducted 257 scientific research projects of state, provincial, ministerial-level and so on. It has produced over 170 kinds of teaching textbooks and monographic books. The college has also established 250 laboratories and bases with other colleges and enterprises for practice, experiment and training. The college has also set up more than 90 multi-media classrooms with the “quaternity” of multi-media auxiliary teaching systems. The Ventilation Lab, the Electron and Electic Training Center, the Modern Surveying Engineering Training Center and the Environmental Engineering Training Center in the college are of first-class standard within Yunnan Province. Among them, the Ventilation Lab belongs to the State advanced labs of colleges and universities of higher education, and the Modern Surveying Engineering Training Center is nominated as an exemplary lab of Yunnan Province. The college has also built a first-class campus network and a digital library. The capacity of the library collection has reached over 700,000 volumes of books and materials, including more than 210,000 E-books to be read and copied online.
The 155th Institute of State Professional and Technical Ability Appraisal has been identified by the Provincial Department of Labour and Social Security as an organization carrying out professional and technical ability appraisal, which can perform technical ability appraisal of medium and advanced levels for 84 different types of occupation, covering 430 working posts. In 2004, the college was acknowledged as the “base of training high skilled persons in Yunnan Province” by the Provincial Department of Labour and Social Security. Now the college has been approved as being one of the hundred experimental colleges for professional qualification certificate systems by the State Department of Labour and Social Security of the People＇s Republic of China.
